Notes and Letters from Tree Owners

Sherry and I are often touched by the many warm and thoughtful notes we receive from our tree owners. We have included excerpts from some of them here. As you read our tree owners' kind words, you will more clearly know why we feel so blessed to be growing trees for so many wonderful people!

We sincerely thank all of our tree owners for your warmth and inspiration!

Note: Out of respect for our tree owners' privacy, only initials are shown.

Estimados Steve and Sherry,

In December 2007, our family (my wife and I and our two young sons) were privileged to experience impressive visits to TATF headquarters in San Jose, your Campo Real farm, and to the farm of our Teak trees.  In all three visits, TATF Staff were professional and responsive, and all seemed deservedly proud  of their TATF achievements, and their focus on quality was evident.

In San Jose, Viviana clearly explained TATF operations and displayed beautiful Raleo furniture.  In Camp Real, the horse ride through the natural forests and teak plantations to the waterfall was an unforgettable adventure.  We were impressed by the height and width and apparent good health of the Teak trees as well as by the many stacks of drying Teak wood all up on rocks, all with slats in between rows and all covered with black tarp.  At both farms, the managers seemed to have excellent working relationships with Hans.

Your achievements are breathtaking.  May your talents result in continued success for many decades.

               Best Regards,
               R.V.
               California

Dear Sherry and Steve,

Thank you so much for our several distribution checks.  They have allowed us to do things we otherwise could never have done.  We are so thankful that you shared this wonderful opportunity with us.  It is exciting to know that these early distributions are only from the first thinnings and many more are to come.  We only wish we had bought more trees when we first learned about you.  Thank you again!!!

              S. W., Titusville, FL

Dear Josephine,

The check just arrived today and we are excited to receive it, since it is the first.  We look forward to others in the near future. Thank you very much.

 Dear Josephine,

. . . The check has arrived, thank you very much.

Dear Josephine,

. . . My father (P K) purchased the trees for my new son.  His first name is actually Teak.  My father had bought some Teak Tree's for my daughter Willow when she was born back in 2004, and we laughed saying if I ever had a boy we could name him Teak. It started as a joke but when I got pregnant again and found out it was a boy, no other name seemed to fit. So little Teak was born. :)  Thanks for your great trees and the great name!

               Sincerely,

               J. K., Bedford, TX

Steve and Sherry,

. . .The highlight of our month long trip was the one day we spent visiting our trees at the Capital farm and seeing those trees being grown at Santo Domingo and San Cristobal. We found everything exactly as we had been told or read in your newsletters, but underestimated two things - the size of our trees was larger than expected and secondly, one cannot begin to appreciate the friendliness of the local people on the farms until you meet them. . .

. . .Everyone we met associated with your organization was well informed and were truly proud to take the time to show us the fruits of their hard work (and having been raised on a farm I know that things don't get done without a lot of hard work!!). . .

. . .Thanks again for letting us be involved.

               T. and G. C., Issaquah, WA

Dear Steve and Sherry,

. . . It was great to see the farms and visit our trees and see how well they are doing! We are very impressed! The horseback riding, the lunch by the stream, swimming under the waterfalls - it was all wonderful! . . .Campo Real was beautiful!! Horseback riding through the farm was so enjoyable -- I could have done it all day!

. . . Hopefully, we'll be back someday, with the kids, to see how big our trees have gotten! Until then, good luck with everything and keep up the good work!

Dear Sherry and Steve,

. . . L. and I both had the 'time of our life' in Costa Rica. . . It was not only the beauty of the country that captured our hearts, but the beauty of the people.

I just received your packet of information yesterday, and I tell you, I just could not write the check fast enough. As I know you have heard repeatedly, what you two are doing is so admirable and commendable, I am absolutely compelled to be a part of it. I have been contemplating investing in something for some time now. Being a horticulturist, I could not think of anything better to invest in than trees. . .

. . . Thank you for sharing a part of what you have there with us. I look forward to visiting my trees and wonderful Costa Rica soon again and receiving your newsletters. I am shooting for a return trip this summer. . ..

With warmest regards & hopes for a great New Year,

               D. P., Fayetteville, AR

Dear Steve,

. . . we are so excited and pleased to be able to invest in an endeavor that not only satisfies the modern world's desire for goods, but that preserves the natural environment as well. . .

Steve & Sherry,

. . . We are excited about "putting our money where our mouth is" in making this purchase.  P. is a weekend woodworker, and although teak is totally out of his skill level and price range, it's nice to think that some will still be available when he retires.  And of course the price can only rise from this point.  Perhaps in a few years we'll even be able to take a vacation and visit you and our trees.

Thank you for making such an offer available.  We wish you the best of luck in your endeavor, and hope we will profit from it as well.

               P. R.,  Shenandoah Junction, WV

Sherry & Steve,

. . . The trees were very impressive; it is very evident that much care and nurturing has been done to create a first class hardwood plantation.

     Congratulations to you both!

Steve & Sherry,

What a wonderful gift my father gave our new baby for Christmas – tropical hardwood trees!  We have enjoyed reading the newsletters and keeping up with all your progress.  What a wonderful thing you have started!  We hope to all come down to visit our trees some day soon. . . .

Steve & Sherry,

. . . I am pleased to be able to invest money in an enterprise that will earn a good return on my investment and will also help protect our dwindling areas of rain forest.  I always look forward to receiving correspondence about what you are doing in Costa Rica.  It is evident from these mailings that you both care deeply about the environment and the business. I wish everyone could be so passionate about their careers.

. . . Please keep up the good work you are doing.  I wish more people were as concerned about the environment as you are and I wish there was more I could do as well . . .  Thank you for helping make a difference.

Dear Sherry & Steve,

Thanks so much for letting me be involved and for your recent Tree Owners News.  Your news letter was not only informative but very well written - GOOD JOB! (Good communication seems to be a scarcity these days.) . . .

Dear Sherry and Steve,

I am a current tree owner and wish to purchase some more trees . . .  Let me share with you why.   My wife, L., and I have been waiting the birth of our first child. She came to us on July 8. Her name is S. D. H. I think the investment in your tree farm for S. is a good as well as a unique way to start building for her financial future. . .

               G. H.,  Columbus, OH

Dear Steve & Sherry,

. . . My visit was most enjoyable.   Getting to know the both of you was a pleasure and meeting some of the farm hands as well.  Riding through the farms to the various tree fields was pure joy.   Thank you. . . .

               J. M.,  Cincinnati, OH

Dear Tree Owners News,

. . .We were amazed at the scope of the total project and how well the trees, especially the teak, are growing.  We can only say that we feel blessed to be a small part of this endeavor and thank Steve and Sherry for the opportunity.
